About the NZ Stakes Per Start Ratings

The stakes won by each sires progeny on New Zealand tracks since October 1998 are added up. The average stake money for each sire is calculated by dividing total stake money earned by the total number of starts.

Criteria for a sires inclusion on the list includes :
1) At least 15 individual horses raced in New Zealand over the past 2 years.
2) At least 50 runs in total.
3) One of the Top 100 ranked.

If a sire does not appear on the list, it either does not qualify under the criteria for inclusion as outlined above, or is not one of the top 100 ranked.

The RaceBase database stores stake money to 6th place only in each race. These days, some clubs pay out small amounts of stakemoney beyond 6th placing. These rankings record stakemoney beyond 6th placing as zero.

Grp1 = Number of NZ Group One wins since Oct 98.
Stks = Number of NZ Black Type race wins since Oct 98.
